CHI St. Luke’s Health Leading the Charge for Montgomery County United Way Annual Collection Drives

A philanthropic company that includes a generous leader and a caring staff is bound to do great things in its community. CHI St. Luke’s Health is just that sort of company, and Montgomery County United Way is proud to partner with them in our efforts to improve lives in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County United Way holds two annual collection drives: the “Socks and Undies” drive for children returning to school and the “Coats and Mittens” drive providing youth and adults warmth in the cold winter months. These collection efforts benefit thousands of Montgomery County residents each year.

The “Socks and Undies” drive, held last summer, was a huge success providing new socks and underwear to approximately 1,500 Montgomery County school children. This was largely thanks to the incredible generosity of the CHI St. Luke’s Health – The Woodlands and Lakeside Hospitals’ staff, as they collected the most items. This year’s “Coats and Mittens” drive was also a tremendous success collecting close to 1,300 items of winter clothing for Montgomery County residents in need. It was no surprise to find that the CHI St. Luke’s Health – The Woodlands and Lakeside Hospitals’ staff were the leading contributors to that drive as well.

“We are happy to participate in the Coats and Mittens Drive and help Montgomery County residents in need,” said David G. Argueta, President, CHI St. Luke’s Health–The Woodlands, Lakeside, Springwoods Village Hospitals. “At CHI St. Luke’s Health, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. It’s very humbling to know that many adults and children will be able to stay warm during these winter months thanks to these donations and the work that United Way does throughout the community.”

Companies that develop a culture of giving improve lives and strengthen communities. Early American poet, James Russell Lowell wrote, “Not what we give, but what we share, for the gift without the giver is bare.” It is this sentiment that can create a positive, lasting change in any one community.  Because of the continued support and contributions shared by CHI St. Luke’s Health, many Montgomery County lives have been positively impacted.
